Rural Development Group Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche

Rural Development Group Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche is a non-profit that are present in organizations and associations in the region interested in participating in its development. The number goes from 60 partner organizations and continues to grow since its inception. They come in public, as local governments, and private sector: business associations, cultural, women's, youth, financial institutions, trade unions.
This association operates within the Community framework for 2000-2006, the rural development program PRODER of Andalusia and the Community Initiative Leader Plus in the region of the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche. With these programs is designed, based on the possibilities and resources of the region, promote economic diversification, employment generation, fixing the population and improving the quality of life for its inhabitants as well as facilitate the ability organization of the mountain population and the articulation of the territory.
It collaborates with the Couseling of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Junta de Andalucia in action with women and youth of the region in line with its General Directorate of Rural Development policies on gender and youth in rural areas.

Esta iniciativa impulsada desde MURUNA pretende poner de manifiesto la importancia de los usos ganaderos tradicionales, como la trashumancia transterminante, para la conservación de la fauna en peligro de extinción, su incidencia positiva en una gestión adecuada de la biodiversidad y su potencial dinamizador del medio rural como foco de atracción turística.

Esta ruta tendrá su salida en Cornombre (Omaña leonesa) y la llegada a La Pernía, en plena montaña palentina, la expedición atravesará el corredor  que une el núcleo osero occidental de la Cordillera Cantábrica con el oriental. En esta ruta se recorrerán los cordeles y las vías pecuarias tradicionales utilizadas de forma inmemorial para el tránsito de ganado.
